Yanni:
Is a Greek key broadest and composer he was born in Kalamata, Greece. Yanni is a self taught pianist who began his musical career by giving recitals for family members early in his life he was also a competitive swimmer in Greece and set a national record in the 50 meter free style competition he then attended the university of Minnesota and earned a B.A. degree in Psychology, Yanni chose to try a career in music although he could not read music and had no formal training, using his own form of musical short hand he began writing original works, Yanni’s break through commercial success came with the release of his album and video “Yanni Live At The Acropolis” which was released in 1994 this was Yanni’s first live album and utilized a full orchestra in addition to his core band subsequently the concert was broadcast in U.S.A on PBS and quickly became one of the most popular programmes ever this album has almost continuously remained on the charts since its release and is the second selling music video of all times, selling more then 7 million copies world wide. In 1997 Yanni became one of the few western Artists permitted to perform and record at the Taj Mahal in India, later that year he performed at the Forbidden City in China.

Yanni is back, has created new music with vocals, and planning a 2008 World Tour. I saw this on his website yanni.com.

I still listen to his recordings on my headset while working on my computer. At 71 I need not be reminded of the marvelous accomplishments of the music world. I hope he still records the melolic music I fell in love with. My mother and father were both musicans, and my grand-daughter is also. My mother played by ear on a duboro guitar which I still own. Her love of music introduced to me at a very early age is something I must have daily. She would let us buy a recording every paycheck along with one she selected. So if one of us selected Country western, she would give us an operatic section, etc. God Bless her and Yanni for their love of music and mine..
