The robbers allegedly derived details of the celebrities’ timings, when they were in and out of their house, from the web, reports the New York Post.  Seemingly, they had noted who would be out of the town through gossip columns.

91-year-old rocks Australia's biggest outdoor art show

A 91-year-old woman won the top prize at Australia's main open-air art exhibition at Sydney's Bondi Beach on Thursday for a granite carving she completed 13 years ago. May Barrie's sculpture beat 113 other artworks at the Sculpture By The Sea festival, Australia's largest annual outdoor public display of art which is expected to draw half a million visitors over the next fortnight.

Barrie has been sculpting for more than 60 years and completed Time and Tide Granite Monolith II in 1996. Exhibition organisers described the huge sculpture, which has wave-like indents, as peaceful, subtle and sophisticated.

"I know it's a good work and now I'm glad that other people agree. I'm surprised and pleased to have been given this award. I hope I'm not just dreaming this," Barrie said. Sculpture By The Sea, in its thirteenth year, allows people to view artworks as they walk along a two km (mile) stretch of Sydney's iconic beaches.

Festival founding director David Handley said Barrie was "quietly elated" by the win. "She's been very private for the last decade or so and I wasn't even aware that she was still alive. I picked her up, I said, 'May, why haven't you been in our show before?'," he told Reuters. He said Barrie had drawn out the natural beauty of the stone, despite granite being particularly difficult to work with. Barrie said she would share the A$60,000 ($54,000) first prize with her family.

U2 Upset About Their Last Album

U2 Upset About Their Last AlbumMany fans weren't too sure about the direction U2 was headed earlier this year and now the band seem to think they might have made a mistake with their latest release.

According to Spinner, Bono and his bandmates admitted they are disappointed by the success of their 2009 release No Line On The Horizon. Despite debuting number one in the UK in March and having sold 1 million copies, the record has been the group's biggest bust. Not only has it been their lowest-selling album in more than a decade, but the singles they have released haven't fared well on the charts either.

Nicole Kidman in Congress what Erin Andrews should do: speak on violence against women

October 26, 2009 |17:39 | Gossips  By : Team X

Nicole Kidman in Congress what Erin Andrews should do: speak on violence against women Nicole Kidman gave a heroic and timely presentation before Congress last week that set an example for what ESPN reporter Erin Andrews should do with her new-found heightened celebrity in the wake of the "peephole" incident.

Erin Andrews recently closed a difficult chapter in her life with the arrest of her alleged peephole stalker Michael David Barrett, who reportedly followed her to different hotels to make "peephole" videos of her in the nude.

During the period of time that the videos were bring thrown around the Internet, and showed in part even by CBS, Erin Andrews did not use the spotlight given to her to speak out on issues of concern to women, specifically violence against woman

As I wrote before, if Erin's serious about making sure other women aren't treated in the way she was, she should speak out about it.

Music Used at Guantanamo Angers Musicians

October 23, 2009 |15:30 |   By : Team X

Music used at Guantanamo is angers musicians. It seems that the U.S. military has been cranking up the volume of Western music to get more cooperation from uncooperative prisoners in the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Doesn’t it seem a bit ironic that musicians are objecting to this and referring to it as ‘torture’ for the terrorists there to have to listen to their music? I does to me. But that is the case.

Musicians are joining forces with leftist activists, objecting to the use of music, including their own, as a method of breaking the hard-core terrorists who are refusing to cooperate with the U.S. Naval run military prison officials. Bands involved in protesting the use of their music include R.E.M. Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor and Pearl Jam.

They have joined the National Campaign to Close Guantanamo. The campaign launched on Tuesday. They have filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the release of classified documents pertaining to the use of loud music as part of interrogations.

It adds: “Ms George has been forced to endure blaring music, stomping and shaking walls for approximately one and a half to three hours each day.”

The suit, which was filed at Manhattan Supreme Court in New York, also says the building’s management board has threatened to evict the superstar if she does not quieten down.
