Presidents addressing the public meetings inappropriate: Chief Election Commissioner

Liaquat Baloch, an MMA manager alleged that the chief election official has affirmed the President’s lecturing to the public meetings an unsuitable step. A delegation of the MMA called on the chief election commissioner and explained to him about the resolution of Jama’at Islami and their objections on the electoral lists. The resolution had rejected the new electoral lists declaring them inaccurate, incomplete and biased.
Talking with journalists after the meeting, Liaquat Baloch said that he gave proposals to the chief election commissioner. He said that they have no objection of the staff of the commission but the laws affecting the transparency of the elections should be changed.He said that the notice should be taken of the President’s addresses at the public meetings.

Aisam Qureshi became 2nd Pakistani to qualify for Wimbledon

The 27-year-old beat fourth seed Frank Dancevic of Canada [Images] 4-6, 7-6 (9), 6-2, 7-6 (4) in the last round of the Wimbledon qualifiers to become the first player from his country to qualify for the grass court Grand Slam.

"It has always been a dream to play in Wimbledon, singles; I've played doubles a couple of times," says Qureshi. "Thankfully, I have three days to digest that before I play. But I want to make most of the opportunity.

"I am playing very well now, serving well, returning well, volleying well. So if I get the luck of the draw I hope to do some more damage."

Having beaten world number 11 Richard Gasquet in the first round of the Halle ATP, Qureshi carried the confidence into the Wimbledon qualifying tournament. And it helped when he was a set and set point down in the second against the tall Canadian, an accomplished player on grass himself.

Musharraf terms media as countrys first defence line

President General Pervez Musharraf has alleged that media is the primary resistance column of the state and resentments of the history must be ended for better future. President said that he would make some important announcements in his address to the nation next week.  Addressing an executive session of media workshop in National Defence University here on Friday, Musharraf said that media and government should work together.
He has firm believe on media freedom and would provide complete protection to the media. Licenses were issued to electronic media despite opposition. Musharraf praised the positive role of media after devastating earthquake in 2005, about women’s protection bill and pointing out wrong measures of Lal Masjid but said that during judicial crisis from last three months, media played a negative role and gave political and ethnic color to May 12 incidents

Madam Noor Jahan

                                           Madam Noor Jahan:
Was born at Qasur in Pakistan on September 21, 1929, then she moved to Calcutta where she became a stage actress at the age of 6 during the years 1935-37 madam came in the films as child artist but it was in 1939 that people started to take notice of her in Punjabi films. It was the Director and story writer Shaukat Hussein Rizvi who made Noor Jahan come in “Khandan” in 1940s in 1944 Noor Jahan starred with Lata Mangeshkar both 16 years old in “Bari Maa” both as singer actresses their only movie together “Bari Maa” marketed the beginning of a great friendship between Lata and Noor Jahan that was alive till the day Noor Jahan died. Noor Jahan starred in around 10 more movies between 1955-63. Ventured into her new married life with actor Ijaz she then bid fare well to acting and became the dominant play back singer of Pakistan’s Film Industry, she sang play back for Urdu and Punjabi films during the following 2 decades that included a large number of hit musical films with hundreds of memorable songs, many of those are classic. Madam Noor Jahan was honored with the Pakistan’s National Award and officially crowned as Malika-e- Taranum by the President of Pakistan. In the early 1980s upon invitation from Bombay’s old fans the melody queen visited India for that grand concert where she met her long time friend Lata, her “Jugnu “ dream Dilip Kumar and Music Director Naushad after the lapse of 4 decades. But other then that she had been in semi retirement for a few years battling her health problems and she died in Karachi on 23, December 2000.

Television producer. Music composer. Singer. And now actor. Oh yes, Himesh Reshammiya wears many caps. Literally! Everyone's curious to know how HR is as an actor? Is he a fine actor? Or has he strolled into the wrong alley?Don't expect miracles. HR is no Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, SRK or Aamir Khan when it comes to histrionics. He's not the best looker in town either, not anywhere close to Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan or Akshay Kumar.But you've to hand it over to HR for being the most courageous and confident person around. Can you ever imagine actors like Amitabh Bachchan or SRK turning music composers overnight? It's difficult to take risks, especially when you're under a scanner constantly. Like the famous lines go, every step you take, every move you make, the world'll be watching you…

Water in Mirani Dam reaches to dangerous level

Typhoon Yemyin and intense rains have played chaos with Baluchistan coastal strap leaving thousands on the streets. Continuous rainfall has raised water level in Mirani dam to dangerous point.  Turbat, Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara, Jhall Magsi, Lasbella, Jaffarabad and Naseerabad districts of Baluchistan were badly affected by torrential rains and flashfloods.
Floodwater was entered in houses in tehsil Pasni of district Gwadar. Several feet deep floodwater can be witnessed in various localities of Pasni with scant relief activities by the government agencies and local administration. Pasni and Ormara land link through the Coastal Highway still disrupted, while about 400 people have been trapped in the area. Three persons including a woman stranded in the area were reported killed. The floodwater of River Maula in district Naseerabad has inundated various villages.

Pakistan Navy rescuers save eight fishermen

Pakistan Navy helicopters Wednesday securely saved eight fishermen trapped in the sea throughout Cyclone Yemyin that lashed Pakistan's southern coast. Pakistan Navy’s Sea King helicopters participated in the operation to rescue the fishermen stranded in open sea near Karachi for several days.  The fishermen trapped in the sea braving the rough waves in their boats were waiting for the help. The navy rescuers helped the fishermen to return Karachi to meet their families.
“The Navy’s rescue operation has been continued for last 30 hours,” Commander Zahid, a member of the rescue team, said. The Navy, if required, will use Defender and Atlantic aircrafts in the rescue operation along with the helicopters, he added.

Cyclone Yemyn makes landfall at Balochistan coastline

A sultry Cyclone Yemyn is transient throughout Balochistan’s coastal districts of Ormara and Pasni as a consequence more rains would strike these areas with next 3 to 4 hours. According to Director General Metrological Department Dr. Qamaruzaman, intensity of cyclone is gradually reducing.More rains would strike the coastal areas of Sindh during next 12 hours, he added.
Meanwhile, residents of coastal areas were evacuated to safer places.
