March 31, 2010 |18:32 | Music  By : Team X

Sarod maestro Amjad Ali feels that the classical music is facing a lot of "cultural aggression" in India and it is a miracle that the young generation is still interested in preserving the tradition. "I have been seeing the cultural aggression gradually in our country. It is two hundred television channels versus traditional art whether classical music or theatre or dance," Khan said.

"I'm seeing today that the generation of Amaan and Ayaan...if they are playing classical music it is God's wish because there is so much temptations around...it is a miracle," he added. Miley Cyrus: No, Seriously, I Quit Music

March 29, 2010 |16:51 | Music  By : Team X

Miley Cyrus - No, Seriously, I Quit MusicLooks like teen queen Miley Cyrus wasn't joking when she said recently how it was time for her to exit the music business and focus on acting.

She recently revealed on The View that she's become a bit disheartened because "the music industry isn't as positive as I would like it to be."

Much like when she deleted her Twitter and did not return to the social media site despite harsh criticism, Cyrus is sticking to her guns here.

"I've got a record coming out in June, then I'm done," she said. "I just want to work in movies. That's what I like and what I want to be doing."Her new film The Last Song, opening this week, is Miles' first acting project outside of Hannah Montana, and co-stars her new boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Miley and Liam made a splash on the red carpet last week, and while he may be a tad biased, he says he wasn't surprised that Cyrus held her own acting.

"You know how she feels when she's feeling down and you know how she feels when she is feeling up," he said. "She's always a very expressive person."

"That really works on the screen, and she's really good."

Is she? We'll find out when we review The Last Song.

March 8, 2010 |16:38 | Music  By : Team X

The industry was sent into shock last week when BBC Director General Mark Thompson confirmed plans to close the two digital stations, as well as several websites including Switch and Blast, as part of plans to save £600m.

The BBC's Strategy Review proposals have now been submitted to the BBC Trust and a wider consultation will take place over the next 12 weeks before a final decision is made.UK Music CEO Feargal Sharkey says that it is vitally important that the pressure is kept up on the BBC trust over this period.

“Over the past week, many of UK Music’s members have expressed public outrage at the decisions to close 6 Music and the Asian Network. These feelings were repeated, passionately, loudly and unanimously at the UK Music board meeting. Losing these stations is not an option for this industry. It is now paramount that we keep the pressure on. Both collectively and individually this is precisely what we will be doing in the months ahead.”
