BIGG BOSS 5: Are Pooja Bedi and Sky a couple?

Posted in : Favorite TV Shows, Showbiz

(added few months ago!)

The new day brings a new fight. Siddharth Bhadwaj complains that he doesn’t want to follow orders of the new captain, Pooja Misrra. He tells her he will cook lunch with another housemate’s help rather than wash the dishes. Pooja Misrra talks to Amar Upadhyay and Pooja Bedi about it and then agrees to Sid’s request. Pooja Bedi and Sunny Leone chat in the garden and Pooja asks Sunny to take care of Sky once she is out of the house.

BIGG BOSS 5 Are Pooja Bedi and Sky a couple

Back in the kitchen, Sky tells Siddharth sarcastically that  after the show ends, he wants to fly down to Delhi and meet Sid. Sid replies that he is not scared of Sky and he can come whenever he wants with whomever he wants. The two end up arguing and Sky calls Sid a copy cat. He also repeats Salman Khan’s comments about Sid and wonders aloud how he can be a part of the house after all the humiliation he has suffered. Pooja Bedi walks in and tells Sid not to fight with others so early in the day. The two continue their argument in the garden in front of other housemates. Sid taunts Sky that he has no shows to do while he has a dedicated fan following who looks up to him. He also adds that if Sky crosses the limits, he will reveal to all what Sky had told him about Pooja Bedi. Juhi Parmar and Bedi intervene and try to bring about peace.

Later in the day, Amar Upadhyay and Siddharth discuss Sky and call him gutless. Amar says Sky can only fight with the girls but never dares to take on the guys. The two also claim that Sky has a scheming nature and its high time he stopped all this nonsense. Sid reveals to Amar that Sky had cribbed about him too to Sid. Amar calls Sky a barking dog who has no bite and says that Sky will never do anything when the time comes. They decide they will take their revenge on Sky soon. The two also gossip about Sky’s growing friendship with Pooja Bedi and how the two look like a couple.

Review: 'The Artist' offers simple pleasures in a look back at Hollywood's origins

Posted in : Showbiz

(added few months ago!)

Review 'The Artist' offers simple pleasures in a look back at Hollywood's origin"The Artist" is, as you may have heard by now, a black-and-white movie that is, for the most part, silent.  It is set during the era when the silent films were replaced by talking pictures.  It is a crowd-pleaser, and since its premiere at Cannes this summer, it's been getting warm and enthusiastic reviews.

I was onboard since before the film started screening based purely on the creative team involved.  Michel Hazanavicius and Jean Dujardin collaborated on both "OSS 117: Cairo, Nest Of Spies" and "OSS 117 - Lost In Rio," which are these lovely silly French riffs on spy movies from the '60s, with Dujardin looking like someone put Bond-era Connery and Patrick Warburton in the Brundlechamber.  Those films both delight me, start to finish, and the idea of those two guys paying tribute to silent cinema sounded like pure win as far as I was concerned.

Now, a day later, I'm trying to figure out why I don't love the movie the way so many others seem to.  People are ecstatic over it, swoony in love with it, and I thought it was, at best, a nice diversion, a sweet but overly simple piece that won't have nearly the rematch value for me as their earlier films together.  I think Dujardin is very charming in it, I think Berenice Bejo is a pleasure to watch in the film, and I like the work Hazanavicius does as a director.  It's very skilled in a lot of ways.  But the storyline here is threadbare, a few sketched ideas instead of a finished work, and I can't help but feel that they never really figured out why to make this movie aside from the obvious exercise in homage.

And, yes, I know I just said I love both of the "OSS 117" movies, which are equally driven by homage, and I know that sounds hypocritical, but all I can say is one works and one doesn't for me.  Within the basic idea that we're going to see something that looks very early '60s with Dujardin as a clueless spy, there are any number of directions things can go, and the films are loose and funny and inventive, and take you to some really bizarre and ridiculous places.  "The Artist," on the other hand, is a very linear ride.  Guy Valentin (Dujardin) is a giant movie star in the silent era.  Sound is invented.  He's ruined overnight.  He mopes.  He gets a bounce.  The end.  If this were a silent comedy by someone like Keaton or Chaplin, the idea that he is ruined by the invention of sound would be a two or three minute set-up, and then each sequence would be an elaborate comedy set-piece built around him trying to redefine himself after leaving the film business.  That's what silent films did so well… they would take one idea and then really milk it for all the material they could.  Sometimes it works.  Sometimes it doesn't.  But there was an inventive spirit to many of the best silent comedy filmmakers that I don't think "The Artist" really captures in any significant way.

I do think that's the goal, though.  The film is definitely the most gentle of the films they've made together, with Dujardin smiling a lot in place of actual jokes.  He defers to a cute Jack Russell terrier for much of the film, and I was surprised how passive he is about his fate.  He's so loosely defined as a character that I'm not really sure why I was supposed to be invested in what happens to him.  Berenice Bejo, the female lead, is far more appealing overall as Peppy Miller, a girl who get her break in one of Valentin's last silent films only to become one of the first major stars of the sound era.  What's weird is how the sound films she stars in look exactly like the silent films of Valentin's era, and yet the film wants us to believe that the audience would just instantly reject the older films.  There have been so many films that have dealt with the ideas that are in this movie, and with more punch, that I'm not sure what the appeal is here.  It's frustrating, because I kept waiting for the film to get its hooks in me.  I couldn't have been more open to it overall.

In the end, "The Artist" feels to me like a nod to the idea of silent cinema, but I don't think it recreates the language or the energy of silent films very well, and when you're doing homage like this, part of the goal is getting everything right.  Look at the heyday of Mel Brooks when he made "Young Frankenstein" or "Blazing Saddles" or "High Anxiety."  He went out of his way to get everything right, and it just made it funnier.  Here, I feel like Hazanavicius wanted to indulge a certain fetish, and he loves both Dujardin and his wife, Bejo, but he doesn't really have much for them to do.  Even the way he uses sound in the film on those few occasions he breaks his own rules isn't something that pays off thematically.  It's just momentarily neat.

I wish I felt the same love for this that everyone else seems to.  It's never fun being the one who just isn't feeling it.  Right now, our own Greg Ellwood is confounded by the love for "Hugo," to the point of exasperation, but I know he genuinely just doesn't connect with it.  He's not wrong.  it's not the movie's fault.  It's just a case of the material not landing with him in any particular way.  Considering how much I wanted to love "The Artist," it's doubly confounding that I didn't.  I liked it, and I would say that if you're up for a light bit of diversion this weekend, it is indeed good for that.  But I wanted something that was going to stick to me, and it didn't.  It's been just over a day since I saw it, and it's already fading in my memory, while other films I've seen recently are fresh and vivid and I know I'll be seeing them again as soon as I can.  For a film I wanted to see as much as this one, "fine" seems like a major disappointment.

We're well aware of how gorgeous supermodels Gisele, Miranda Kerr, and Alessandra Ambrosio look. What we're not sure of: which one of these beauties has the cutest pooch. But first, yesterday's poll: Even though he's jumped fully clothed into a pool in Croatia and danced on his knees in Vegas, the majority of Zimbio readers don't think Prince Harry parties too hard. Sure, 43 percent of you think he could tone down his act a bit. But really: If you were single, part of the royal family, and had access to Pippa Middleton's phone number, would you really live your life any differently?

Which Supermodel Has the Cutest Pooch

Speaking of different lifestyles, let's return our attention to three supermodels who have been paid boatloads of cash to simply look hot. But what would you know, it turns out Gisele, Miranda Kerr, and Alessandra Ambrosio share more in common than just sex appeal and great taste in affordable bras. They're all dog owners.

And while you could spend hours pointlessly debating which lovely lady has the best legs, we aren't here to discuss their individual merits. No, we'd rather you tell us which of their furry pets you'd most want to cuddle up with and take home. Of course, in order to do that, you'll need to see pictures of the little ones. So here we go:

Hollywood power couple Moore, Kutcher split

Posted in : Showbiz

(added few months ago!)

Actress Demi Moore announced "with great sadness" the end of her high-profile marriage to Ashton Kutcher, after his reported infidelity with a woman less than half her age. Thursday's confirmation comes after months of media reports about problems between the Hollywood power couple, who married in 2005 when she was 42 and he was 27. She had earlier been married to actor Bruce Willis for 13 years.

Hollywood power couple Moore, Kutcher split

"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton," the 49-year-old said in a statement issued through her publicist. "As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life."Thirty-three year-old Kutcher, who recently took over from troubled star Charlie Sheen in the hit TV series

"Two and a Half Men," tweeted a poignant message minutes after Moore's announcement.
"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK," he wrote. As well as being a famous acting couple, Moore and Kutcher have both been pioneers of the use of social media, notably Twitter.

Moore, whose movies include "Ghost" (1990), "A Few Good Men" (1992), "Indecent Proposal" (1993) and "G.I. Jane" (1997), may have to get a new Twitter name: her current one is @mrskutcher. She made no immediate comment on her Twitter feed -- her usual method of sharing news, comment or other information -- after announcing the split via her publicist.

Rumors of trouble in the marriage flared in recent weeks after Kutcher reportedly had unprotected sex with a 22-year-old woman during a trip with friends to San Diego -- allegedly on September 24, the night of his sixth wedding anniversary with Moore. The blonde Texan, Sara Leal, said afterwards that Kutcher told her that he was no longer with Moore. "He said he was separated and it felt natural," Leal told US magazine last month.

"He was good... It wasn't weird or perverted," she added, saying that their pillow talk involved politics, particularly the Republican candidates for president. Earlier this year, Moore and Kutcher launched the Demi and Ashton Foundation aimed at ending child sex-slavery. But signs of strain could be seen in September, when Moore posted a picture of a broken heart, and tweeted: "2day can U feel some1 else's heart pain needs desires as U can feel your own? At the core we're all reaching 4 the same."

Kutcher answered with the post: "When you ASSUME to know that which you know nothing of you make an ASS out of U and ME," according to People magazine, the celebrity bible. Kutcher is best known for TV shows including "That 70s Show" and "Punk'd," and this year replaced troubled actor Charlie Sheen in the popular comedy "Two and a Half Men."His big-screen roles have include "What Happens in Vegas" (2008) and this year's sex comedy "No Strings Attached" with Natalie Portman.

Moore is also famous for a 1991 Vogue magazine front cover photo of her heavily pregnant with her daughter Scout LaRue, her second child with Willis after the pair married in 1987. On Thursday Moore said she would now focus on rebuilding her life separately from Kutcher. "This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation," she said.

Ranveer Singh to romance Sonakshi Sinha

Posted in : Showbiz

(added few months ago!)

Ranveer Singh to romance Sonakshi SinhaRumour mills dub them the new ‘lovebirds’ of Bollywood. And although neither Ranveer Singh nor Sonkashi Sinha has commented on the subject yet, they are all set to romance each other on the silver screen. As Vikas Bahl, Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane set up India’s ‘first director’s company’ — Phantom —Ranveer and Sonakshi have been roped in to play leads in the first film. Phantom will be launched today at Yash Raj Studios.

Although makers refuse to divulge details, Bahl reveals that it’s “a love story set in the ‘50s. But it’s a classic film, not a period venture.” Written and to-be-directed by Udaan (2010) director Motwane, the project is not a R 50 crore film, as reported. “It will look like a costly film, but it won’t cost even one-fourth of what we’ve been reading about,” smiles Bahl.

The trio, along with partner Madhu Mantena, has joined hands to produce films, nurture young talent and give each other creative freedom and support. “Phantom will be a content-driven production house. The idea was a dream that all three had,” says a team member.

Bahl, of course, is excited. “We love to work with each other. And besides, we want to appreciate newer talents and fresh minds. But most importantly, we wanted freedom to make our kind of films without any pressure,” he says, adding that all of them will direct films. “But we will strike a balance between our production and direction jobs. So, when I’m directing, others will produce and vice versa.”
