Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has scrapped plans to premiere his new movie in Dubai on Thursday, according to a report. The star, who visited the Dubai International Film Festival earlier this month to publicise his latest film ‘Don 2’, has canceled plans to stage a premiere in the city this Thursday. “While the Don 2 team had planned for a Dubai premiere on Thursday, subsequently they rescheduled it with a Patna visit,” his management were quoted as saying in The Times of India newspaper on Tuesday. Khan is currently on a ten city promotional tour and the finale was expected to be a premiere screening in Dubai. However, this has now been scrapped in favour of ending the marketing drive in the Indian city of Patna.

The popular Bollywood leading man already has strong links with the UAE as Abu Dhabi’s film production company Image Nation financed his successful 2010 film ‘My Name is Khan’. Mohammed Al Mubarak, the chairman of the state-backed company, told Arabian Business in November it plans to tap into the lucrative Bollywood market and is currently looking at a number of potential scripts. Foreign box office revenues for Indian films are forecast to reach $255m by 2015, according to PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
