It seems like ‘Dancing with the Stars’ has been all about injuries this year. We started the season off with two injuries, and now we have had three more injuries since then.
Derek Hough had blacked out during rehearsal when he hit his head on the floor. Misty hurt her ankle, and so did Susan Lucci. Hopefully there will be no more injuries on season 7, otherwise everyone is going to be carrying around their lucky rabbits foot on the dance floor and in rehearsals.
Misty wasn’t able to compete on the show last night because she ruptured her Achilles tendon. Not just a minor injury but a very serious injury with surgery being tomorrow which makes her out of the competition. So is there a replacement or is she going to be considered the elimination for this week. I would suspect that nobody will be voted off of the show this week, and Misty will be considered to be voted off of the show.
The first to dance last night was Susan and Tony. They danced the jive and it was a real sweet dance. Susan Lucci is so petite that when she stood next to the Rockettes to practice kicking she was tiny! Her petite body size makes it hard to come across as being a strong dancer. She did a nice job but dances with softness. Judge Len said that it was the toughest test in TV and that she keeps a constant standard throughout the competition.
Judge Bruno said that Lucci got the look right tonight. He said that he noticed that her feet were not steady, but she is starting to get the heat in her dances. Judge Carrie Ann said that she gets bummed when she sees Lucci getting bashfull during the dance. Despite having hurt her ankle and having it wrapped up in a bandage for support she managed fairly well tonight. Judges scores: 7, 7, 7 = 21.
The next up to dance the Viennese Waltz was Lance Bass and his partner Lacey. They went traditional this week and tamed it down to a true ballroom dance. I think I liked their dance much better this week. The dance fit the style and it was a classy dance. Judge Bruno said that there was a little bit of a problem with the rise and fall and they missed the sparkle that they had last week. Judge Carrie Ann thought they were fantastic. Judge Len picked at first saying that Lance Bass had poor posture but then he said that they had great musicality and this was their best dance so far.
Maurice and Cheryl danced the jive and practiced by jumping rope and doing drills with tires. The song they danced with was “Rock around the Clock.” At one point Maurice jumps over top of Cheryl from the top stage. They had a lot of energy in their dance and it was fun to watch. Judge Carrie Ann thought it was fantastic. Judge Len said that it was fast and lively and they had great choreography and it was their best dance. Judge Bruno said that he did notice that Maurice worked on his precision and added a well done. Judges scores: 8, 8, 8 = 24.
Rocco and Karina danced the Viennese Waltz. Judge Len said that there was elements that were very good. Overall he thought it was a pretty good show. He was wearing the mask that Karina was wearing. Bruno said that she should have kept her mask. Rocco doesn’t keep the musicality going. Judge Carrie Ann said that he was the most improved of all the dancers. Judges scores: 7, 7, 6 = 20.
Warren Sapp and his partner Kym danced the Viennese Waltz. He had to tame it down this week for this dance and show his softer side. It was a nice dance. Judge Bruno said that he was big smooth and beautiful. He added that he is so versatile. Judge Carrie Ann thinks she has a crush on him, and he embodied the character and it was beautiful. Judge Len said that he is giving those skinny people a challenge. Judges scores: 9 ,8 ,8 = 25
Cody Linley and Julianne Hough danced the jive. It was fine in the dance, he did a summersault. It seemed a little bit on the boring side in that there was not a specific wow moment. The audience loved it. Judge Carrie Ann said that she noticed that he was counting the whole time and it was a little awkward for her. Judge Len said that the first half was fantastic then it got repetitious. Judge Bruno totally agreed with Len. Judges scores: 7, 7, 7 = 21.
Toni Braxton and Alec danced the Viennese Waltz. Last week she was penalized for being lifted off of the ground. They were dressed in period gowns. The outfits were really pretty and then it went to a rock tune of a classic song. It was a little strange the music had some problems. Judge Len said that if it isn’t broke don’t fix it, he didn’t like the dance. He said that she shouldn’t have used gimmicks and props. Judge Bruno said that she didn’t need to overproduce. Judge Carrie Ann said that she liked it. She said that it was a great job all around. Judges scorers: 8, 7, 7 = 22.
Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas attempted the jive dance this week. The comedy came back with Cloris. Corky trained her to try to keep up with this dance. She did pretty good all things considered. Cloris lost her wig during the dance. They did the wheel barrow at one point. It was somewhat silly. The audience gave her a standing ovation. She milked the crowd for all the applause. Judge Bruno said to call this wacky would be an understatement of the year. It is beyond comprehension. Judge Carrie Ann said that she asked for crazy Cloris and that is what we got. Judge Bruno gave her hair piece back. Judges scores: 6 , 5 , 5 = 16
Brooke and Derek danced the Viennese waltz. They look nice together dancing which they seem to make a slow dance fit. Brooke is very graceful in her dance moves. Of course the judges loved them. They get the first 10 this season. Judges scores: 9, 10, 9 = 28
The result show will be on at different times due to the election debates. Jennifer Hudson will be performing on tonight’s show.
If Misty was in the competition and they were actually going to vote someone else on the show I wonder who will go home tonight on the results show for week 3? I would guess that Cloris Leachman would have probably get the boot. But because of the unfortunate injury that Misty had I think that Cloris is going to be around for another week.
